NutritionWhy is it so important to us If we purchased a brand new top of the line sports car, we would keep it polished, take pride in how it looked, put quality fuel in it, change the oil regularly, get regular servicing done on it by a professional So, why is it that we do not put as much emphasis on fueling our maintaining our bodies? And why do we look after material possessions better than we do our own bodies? Toys, cars, furniture can all be replaced. We only have one body given to us in this life so why do we place less importance on looking after our bodies than we do these material items? With today's modern and hectic lifestyles, it is certainly easy to see why we take our bodies for granted and don't fuel and maintain it the way we should, but we shouldn't be using this as an excuse Every January the TV's are feeding our need to get fit and lose weight with the latest miracle diet or promising us that if we buy this new piece of fitness equipment that we can get washboard abs by only working out 3x a week for 20 minutes a time. Well sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but these things don't actually work The only thing that DOES work is eating health and balanced meals and complementing this with regular physical activity. You CANNOT exercise your way out of a bad diet EVERY single day our bodies NEED Proteins Carbohydrates Fats/Oils Vitamins Minerals Water Our bodies DO NOT NEED FAD elimination diets that involve omitting carbs and substituting our meals with protein shakes Our bodies DO NOT NEED The latest fitness equipment gadget on the market What we DO NEED Is to eat healthy balanced foods, that incorporate all 6 of the nutrient groups, accompanied by simple REALISTIC physical activity that the whole family can participate in Our Vice President Richard runs a very successful Personal Training company at www.rpefitness.ca and he offers an in home service giving you the option to work out in the comfort of your own home. One of the first things he does is look through their pantry, and more often than not he will see cookies, chips, processed foods etc. Bearing in mind that the mom and/or dad in enlisting Richard's services to get them fit, he asks them why they have all this junk food in their pantry. Their usual response is "Oh that is for the kids they like it" Richard's usual response is "Oh so you don't mind killing your kids then?" Food Production - can be compromised with soil depletion, the use of pesticides, early harvesting, poor storage conditions and food transport 2. Food Processing - any process, even cooking, will compromise the nutrition content of any foods 3. Food Choices - with so many convenience foods on the market it is easy to make poor choices We all want to look and feel better, and have long lasting health and wellness, and the only sensible option is to incorporate daily physical activity into our lives along with a balanced and nutritious meal plan.
